We’ve been truly moved by the outpouring of support shown by the local community towards our eccentric little company. We’ve always seen ourselves as forging a unique path, as doing things differently and making choices that outsiders may find strange. It’s this daring creativity at the heart of our company that drives us, that sets us out on adventures knowing full well we could end up out in the wilds without the acknowledgment and affirmation of those around us.
Yet, there is no denying that with the recent Future Leaders of Manitoba and Spirit of Winnipeg Award nominations that we’ve been not only honoured for what we’ve achieved so far, but encouraged by our home community to push forward. This show of local support for our work is something we never expected, but which has both humbled and emboldened us.
Last night these sentiments were crystallized in the lavish Fort Garry Grand Ballroom in front of a crowd of approximately 300 local community leaders and businesses when Corey, our Chief Executive Artist took home the Future Leader of Manitoba Award in the age 26-32 category.
Here are some pictures from the event:
While the Future Leaders of Manitoba Award is given out to a single individual, it’s an achievement we know truly was earned through the efforts of many other talented people within ZenFri, those we’ve been privileged to work with over the past ten years, and of course family and friends who have supported us since the very beginning of this crazy adventure.
Thanks to you all, and to the Future Leaders of Manitoba, and the judges that deemed Corey worthy of this award.
We also like to thank the event’s MC and local radio legend Ace Burpee for his enthusiastic praise of our game Clandestine: Anomaly.
Finally we’d like to give a shout-out to fellow interactive digital media producer Daniel Blair of BIT Space Development, who won in 20-25 age category. Having such a strong showing of support for small innovative companies working in the digital media space was something we’re very excited to have been a part of and we’re so proud to have shared the stage with Dan.
