Unity 3D Developer

ZenFri Inc. is currently looking for an experienced software developer with a passion for creating innovative story-driven experiences on virtual reality and augmented reality platforms. Successful candidates will be able to work from home or in office, and will join a growing Winnipeg-based team while also having opportunities to collaborate with project specific talents from across North America. Preference is given to those who have experience creating a video game in a team setting.

Role and Responsibilities:

You will be working as part of the technical team to develop and polish original and highly innovative interactive experiences. Working directly with the team lead, you will be called upon to solve technical problems in creative ways while forming part of the backbone for some of our most ambitious projects.

Daily Tasks would include:

  • Contribute high-quality code in a collaborative and thoughtful way
  • Help solve novel or complex technical challenges
  • Develop software using Unity3D and related technologies
  • Work closely with the art, design and narrative teams to integrate 3D assets, designs and audio/visual elements
  • Create and maintain documentation including all aspects of the code
  • Participate in testing and provide feedback for gameplay improvements
  • Attend meetings with the team as required

An Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelors degree or college diploma in computer science and/or related experience
  • Ability to develop software using modern practices and frameworks
  • Understanding of wireframes, prototypes, and familiarity with HCI research a plus
  • Understanding of Unity3D and can demonstrate the use of the software
  • Competency in the areas of game development
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently as required in an agile environment
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills including demonstrated ability to use lateral thinking, while also knowing when to ask for help from other team members
  • VR or AR experience is a strong asset
  • Experience integrating Twine outputs in Unity an asset. 

 


Interactive Experience / Game Designer

ZenFri Inc. is currently looking for an experienced game designer with a passion for creating innovative story-driven experiences on virtual reality and augmented reality platforms. Successful candidates will be able to work from home or in office, and will join a growing Winnipeg-based team while also having opportunities to collaborate with project specific talents from across North America. Preference is given to those who have experience creating a video game in a team setting.

Role and Responsibilities:

You will be working as part of ZenFri’s award-winning creative team to develop and polish original and highly innovative interactive experiences. Working directly with the project lead, you will be called upon to solve unique design challenges in creative ways, while also having an eye for systems balancing and a knack for putting fun first.

Daily Tasks would include:

  • Contribute novel ideas based on sound design methodology, while working collaborative with project creative leads to bring something truly unique to market.
  • Help solve complex design issues derived from working with cutting-edge technology
  • Have a keen sense of how to blend storytelling with engaging mechanics
  • Be the point person of “fun”, always narrowing in on what makes an experience truly engaging and rewarding 
  • Work closely with the art, technical and narrative teams to maintain a coherent vision for our project
  • Create and maintain design documentation as required
  • Present ideas that are suitable to the games scope and gameplay format
  • Attend meetings with the team as required

An Ideal Candidate:

  • Lives or be willing to move to Winnipeg
  • Bachelors degree or college diploma in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Experience contributing design ideas to an “indie scale” experience
  • Understanding of wireframes, prototypes, and familiarity with HCI research a plus
  • Basic understanding of Unity3D and can demonstrate the use of the software
  • Experience directly supporting either the code or art teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently as required in an agile environment
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills including demonstrated ability to use lateral thinking, while also knowing when to ask for help from other team members
  • VR or AR experience is a strong asset
  • Experience integrating Twine an asset.
